The Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) is seeking to recruit a Knowledge Exchange Fellow to work with its Environmental Risks to Infrastructure Innovation Programme (ERIIP). Through ERIIP, NERC is working with infrastructure owners, operators, regulators and policy-makers to enable them to access and use environmental science to identify, quantify and manage environmental risks to infrastructure.

As a Knowledge Exchange (KE) Fellow you will work alongside NERC Head Office and the programme coordinators (CIRIA, Construction Industry Research and Information Association) to build expertise, develop relationships and contribute to academia.

The Fellow will be located at an eligible research institute however UK travel will be required. It is anticipated that the Fellow might spend time within a number of the ERIIP industry partners to understand the environmental risks they face and how their organisations work with the research base.

 

Eligibility

Applicants are welcome from the NERC or related communities at all stages of their careers. It is possible that mentoring will be provided for those relatively new to knowledge exchange.

Applicants must be a resident in the UK and be employed by an eligible Research Organisation (Higher Education Institution, Research Council Institute or a recognised Independent Research Organisation). This can either be an applicant’s current place of work or one where it has been agreed that they can be employed for the duration of the fellowship.

Benefits

This is a Directed KE Fellowship and it will be paid pro-rata at 80% FEC. Payments will be made quarterly to the host institution via the NERC profile payments system.

Resources to support the Fellow’s activities are eligible where these are demonstrably essential to knowledge exchange, such as-

• Travel and subsistence.
• Establishing clubs, networks or similar.
• Events such as workshops, seminars, open days or user training.
