MdM recruits 01 Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights manager
For more than 30 years, Médecins du Monde, a campaigning medical organisation committed to international solidarity, has been caring for the most vulnerable populations at home and abroad. It has continued to highlight obstacles that exist in accessing health care and has secured sustainable improvements in health-for-all policies. Those working for this independent organisation do not solely dispense care and treatment but condemn violations of human dignity and rights and fight to improve matters for populations living in precarious situations. MdM currently works in more than 40 countries across all continents where it focuses on 5 priority areas: emergency and crisis, sexual and reproductive health, harm reduction, migrants and displaced populations (health rights), health and environment. MdM strategy in Palestine focuses on 2 pillars: Sexual & Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and Emergency Preparedness and Response (EPREP), with two cross-cutting topics: Mental Health & Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) and gender mainstreaming. In SRH, MdM have developed a comprehensive strategy, aiming to support Primary Health Care Centres through capacity building, to provide quality Sexual and Reproductive Health services, with a full integration of GBV and MHPSS services, within a global right centred approach.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Your role will be to implement and monitor a programme’s Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights to promote the quality of medical activities, practices and data; to directly or indirectly lead/supervise SRHR teams (MdM or partners) to train medical teams and build their capacity to respond appropriately. More specifically your responsabilities are:
Participate to the preparation of SRHR plans, writing SRHR proposals and to adjust SRHR documents and strategy according to context, situation and needs Map and update existing SRHR programmes and service providers (including potential partners such as MoH, INGOs, NGOs, local CBOs, Association of Volunteers, etc.) Conduct SRHR assessments and diagnosis when needed Support the advocacy coordinator in the design and implementation of SRHR advocacy strategy Represent MdM in technical/strategic meetings with local partners (Ministry of health, international organizations, NGOs, etc.) in coordination with the medical and programme coordinators
Plan, implement, monitor and evaluate SRHR activities and ensure that SRHR projects are developed as planned following quality and MdM criteria, adjusting MdM activities and SRHR resources to the needs; for both when implemented by MdM staff or indirectly through partners Capitalize on tools, protocols and guidelines produced on the project Develop and adapt specific didactic SRHR materials for capacity building activities Conduct regular field visits to the project activities Ensure good communication and provide needed information of the project needs and maintain links between projects team and the support departments of the base for the project’s implementation Cooperation and mutual support with another MdM thematic programme manager, namely the MHPSS manager and the ERPEP manager Take part in advocacy and communication activities in collaboration with the advocacy coordinator Organize and provide training events related to SRHR (group training sessions, refreshment courses, on-the-job training, workshops and other scientific events) Participate in networking with other SRHR providers and stakeholders during emergencies
Systematize the collection and filing of SRHR data from external sources (MoH, other NGOs, WHO etc.) in coordination with the monitoring and evaluation officer Ensure the qualitative and quantitative data collection and its proper analysis and produce related summaries on a monthly basis Participate actively in the writing of donors’ reports Provide monthly report of activities and programme management and other reports on the request of the programme and medical coordinators Feed monitool in coordination with M&E officer, programm coordinator and medical coordinator
Be in charge of the daily technical supervision and management of the SRHR staff in the base Conduct annual appraisals of all staff under your direct supervision Participate in the recruitment and briefing of new SRHR program staff Ensure adequate information flow within the different field teams in terms of communication channels and content of messages Identify training needs, set up training or mentoring/coaching programmes and follow up on implementation Report HR misconduct to the programme and/or field coordinator
Participate in the annual and projects budget construction and consumption as well as any required revision Forecast the monthly financial needs of the projects and share with the administrative manager on a monthly basis Participate in the annual and projects procurement plan as well as any required revision Forecast the monthly logistics needs of the projects and share with the logistics manager in the first week of each month
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Status : Employee Gross monthly salary: 2 817 euros
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED: Medical degree: Physician/ nurse/ Midwife with specialization in Obs/Gyne or equivalent experience.
