The Head of Cargo Execution fulfils a key role in the end-to-end execution of the container transportation across the African continent. This role has a significant impact on the satisfaction of Maersk customers through the operational
performance across 49 Ports in Africa. The successful incumbent needs to be able to act strategically and partner closely
with senior internal and external stakeholders. The role is a leader of leaders and the incumbent will lead a cargo team of
20+ employees and the ability to effectively engage team leaders and inspire the cargo execution teams to high levels of performance deemed critical to the success of the overall Africa LOC.
The role will be based in Cape Town, reporting to the Head of Africa LOC.

Key responsibilities
Drives efficiency, productivity and innovation in tasks and scope.
Manages and inspires cost-consciousness across functions to ensures constant reduction of costs.
Builds strong working relationships with key internal and external
customers and authorities to achieve key targets and deadlines.
Assists with development of operational policies within area of
responsibility.
Drives high utilisation of our vessels and assets.
Manages the load, discharge and transshipment process for migrated
ports.
Optimises and proactively plans transshipment volumes.
Has responsibility for reducing waste such as longstanding containers, renominations and cargo no-shows.
Deliver savings through the SmartOPS process within the function.
Has responsibility for training and growing employees within his
function, improves the way the team works.
Challenge and improves global standards.
We are looking for
Strong operational background and knowledge of global shipping
network
Experience leading and inspiring large teams
High energy with strong desire to achieve and proven capabilities of multi-tasking and working under pressure and deadlines.
Strong abilities to build relationships and manage multiple stakeholders’ interests.
Open- and cross-culturally minded.
Excellent written and verbal communication in the English language.
Customer-centric mindset.
Change Agility, versatile and at  ease dealing with ambiguity.
Able to collaborate across functions to deliver solutions for the business.
