LA PLAZA Eastside Arts Initiative: Public Art Works Grant Fund – U.S.

 

LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes’ (LA Plaza) Eastside Arts Initiative (EAI) new Public Art Fund is intended to help preserve historic and support new public art projects by artists or arts organizations serving Greater Eastern LA County.

Through a $25,000 fund, the EAI’s public art grant program supports permanent public artworks installations contributing to the fabric and evolving cultural vitality of the local community and region.

Funding Priorities

Renovation of permanent public art installations (murals, statues, sculptures, historical markers, etc.);
Restoration of permanent public art installations;
New permanent public art installations.
Funding Information

Applications will be considered for grants between $2,500 to $25,000 based on merit and need as determined by the EAI.
Projects which make creative and efficient use of resources will be given preference.
Eligibility Criteria

Requirements:
The project must be a permanent public art installation;
The project must have existing permit approvals from the local governing municipality;
Applicant must provide a permit/approval letter from governing municipality and property owner;
The project must be located on or in the public-right-of-way or in a non-profit owned property within Eastern LA County, which also includes the San Gabriel Valley and the Southeast communities of Bell, Bell Gardens, Cudahy, Huntington Park, Maywood, South Gate, Vernon and Walnut Park;
Must be fully accessible to the public at no charge and able to be viewed from a public right-of-way;
Art installation must be completed within one year of the grant award;
Grant funding must be applied directly to the art project installation;
Must provide a project budget;
Must provide a permit/approval letter from the project property owner;
Must include a photo or rendering of a public art project;
Artists must provide resume summarizing work history in the arts during the past two years;
Arts organizations must provide IRS Determination Letter;
Artists must be able to provide W9 if approved for grant funding;
Applicant must provide a project budget using the application budget template;
Must provide photo or rendering of public artworks project.
Not eligible:
Capital improvements, construction;
Projects that are not accessible to the public;
Municipalities and government entities (applicant may include as a project partner only).
