HOT is hiring a Operations & HR Associate – West and Northern Africa Region.

Overview
• Work Location: Remote, must be located in Senegal

• Reports to: Regional Director, West Africa
• Terms: Full time, one year initial contract

About HOT
Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT) sits at the nexus of participatory mapping, community-led development, humanitarian response, open data and tech.
With a talented and diverse team spread around the globe, HOT is an NGO which supports a dynamic global community of thousands of dedicated volunteers using maps and open data for humanitarian response and the Sustainable Development Goals.
Working with humanitarian and development partners like the Red Cross, Médecins Sans Frontières, UN agencies, governments and others, the HOT community maps in solidarity with those affected by or at risk of disaster, contributing the maps and data aid workers need to do their lifesaving work.
In 2020 the work of the HOT community was recognized by TED’s Audacious Project, a collaborative philanthropic initiative that serves as a springboard for social impact on a grand scale, leading to an exciting new phase of growth.
HOT is expanding its activities: opening four regional hubs and scaling up its support to local mapping communities with the audacious goal of mapping an area home to one billion people in 94 countries at high risk of disasters or experiencing poverty – mapping with communities before they are in crisis.

About You
HOT is looking for someone passionate about, and experienced in, international development and humanitarian action.
You should be able to work within a fast-paced, international organization responding to urgent crises and persistent development issues.
You should be familiar with the operations and internal functions of international NGOs and knowledgeable about the sector.
You will work on a broad range of tasks and projects and have exposure to all aspects of the functioning of the organization.

About the Role
The Operations & Human Resources Associate will work with the Regional Director and other future members of the West Africa regional hub team.
The Ops & HR Associate will support various operational aspects of the opening of our new regional office, including registration, programs, procedures, and administrative processes.
As a main point of contact for general HR- and operations-related queries, you will address and/or redirect queries as appropriate on the following scope of responsibilities.

Responsibilities
• Support analysis and development of processes for Operations, including the set-up of new country, regional and project offices
• Assist with recruitment and onboarding processes, including arranging interviews, communicating with candidates, gathering HR documentation, and new hire training
• Support HR administration and compliance in cooperation with the global HR team
• Support payroll and benefits administration for hub and regional staff
• Support diversity & inclusivity initiatives
• Research and advising on new systems and processes for operations and HR
• Assist field training for new and existing teams in HOT field offices (Ex. Mali, Liberia, etc..)
• Maintain online file system, in collaboration with IT
• Support new vendor identification, procurement, due diligence and onboarding
• Aid in annual submission of any required NGO/entity filings and audit support to Finance team
• Support planning and running of annual international HOT Summit & other events support as necessary
• Support travel management & bookings for conferences, staff meetings, etc.

Qualifications
• Work or educational experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree or greater in International Relations,
• International Development, Non-Profit Management, Social Sciences, or similar,
• French/English bilingual or French/English professional proficiency
• Passionate about humanitarian action and international development
• 2 to 5 years experience in similar roles in non-profit, non-governmental organizations and/or international systems
• Previous experience in recruitment preferred
• Familiarity with GSuite
• Quick learning and adoption of new systems, software and processes
• Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask and prioritize work
• Good knowledge of administration and office management will be an asset
• Attention to detail and problem solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• A good sense of humor and willingness to learn
