JOB CONTEXT :

HI has been working in Colombia since 1986, with an emergency response to the Armero landslide, and has had a permanent presence in the country since 1998. HI promotes respect for the rights of people with disabilities with a special focus on improvised landmine and ERW victims and their families. HI Colombia currently focuses on five areas of intervention: physical rehabilitation, psychosocial support, socio economic inclusion livelihoods and protection. Moreover, the organization strives to empower people with disabilities in the design and implementation of public policies.

HI, has been assigned by the Colombian authorities for the post-conflict 7 zones in 7 priority municipalities for mine clearance. It is sought a greater integration of all activities/components through a comprehensive Armed Violence Reduction (AVR) approach and the Program has developed proposals which include protection of vulnerable civilians. Additionally, other projects incorporating inclusive DRR activities and response to immediate emergency needs of migrants from Venezuela should take shape in 2019.

Operational strategies are monitored annually by Country Director & Geographic Division Director based in Brussels. This is supported and facilitated by HI’s Federation Headquarters, based in Lyon, France, which has a dedicated AVR Desk providing full-time operational, logistical, financial and business development/strategic support to HI programs.

 

YOUR MISSION:

Under the management of the Country Director and in collaboration with HQ services, the Logistics Coordinator ensures the efficient management of logistical resources. Thus s/he is a key player in the rollout and implementation of HI’s logistics standards, consisting in a reworking of the positioning of logistics at HI and the assertion of the principle of the professional channel.

The main responsibilities are the following:

  • Steer logistics strategy and functioning through the active promotion of HI’s institutional policy and the optimisation of our resources
  • Ensure respect and application of HI standards and guarantee accountability
  • Operational logistics management
  • Leads the professional development of the logistics sector within his/her scope and helps to do so for the organisation as whole
  • Contribute to emergency preparedness and provide appropriate support to emergency responses occurring within his/her geographical scope
  • Manage the team

The position will be supporting all the programs of Colombia and could integrate in 2020 the Latin America Regional Program, namely Cuba and Bolivia/Peru. The activities developed in those programs focus on a large portfolio of thematic: Humanitarian Mine Action, Victim assistance, Livelihood, DRR, Rehabilitation, support to civil society…

 

YOUR PROFILE :

  • You hold a Bachelor Degree in a relevant area such as Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering or Business Administration or equivalent years of practical work experience in a relevant field.
  • You have at least 5 years of relevant work experience in areas such as procurement, logistics, office/business administration in NGOs, private or government sectors
  • You have proven team management experience. You demonstrate proven ability to develop staff and provide training on systems and procedures
  • You master humanitarian principles and humanitarian environment specificities
  • You are able to write, speak and work in English and Spanish
  • You are organized, rigorous and solution-oriented. You are able to manage stress and have good interpersonal and leadership skills
