The Peter Lehmann Arts and Education Trust (PLAET) was launched in 2014 to nurture and sustain the artistic and cultural fabric of the Barossa by providing access and education to a wide range of arts and cultural activities.
1000 new grants and donors
The trust was established with the generous support of the David Thomas Foundation and Margaret Lehmann as well as donations from the community.
Foundation Barossa oversees the administration of PLAET together with an advisory committee made up of members of the Lehmann family and Barossa community.

Funding Information
The trust will provide annual grants of up to $5000.
Eligible Activities
PLAET grants are open to individuals and organizations. Projects will be chosen based on their ability to sustain, nurture, and encourage arts and cultural performance and education in the wider Barossa community.
Deadline Free Grants
The types of activities to be funded may include (but are not limited to):
Skills development (especially those that preserve and promote the heritage of the Barossa)
Audience development and improved access to arts and cultural activities in the Barossa
Creation and presentation of new artwork in any medium including visual arts, music, theatre, digital arts, and literature
Research projects
Professional education and development, including educational scholarships.
Who does the PLAET Scholarship & Grant assist?
In 2019, the Peter Lehmann Arts & Education Trust awarded seven arts, culture, and education-based projects, supported for their contribution to the cultural fabric of the Barossa.
Three projects were selected to showcase the Hill & Son Organ and make it an ongoing vibrant part of Barossa cultural life.
Joshua Van Konkelenberg to establish four organ scholarships to generate and nurture interest in the Hill & Son Organ throughout the year. One of the students also received additional funding for organ music.
The Tanunda Town Band received a grant to engage a composing mentor for a group of the Band’s composers
A grant was provided to Ellie Neindorf to create a website and map showcasing the bushwalking trails through the Barossa, which has been well received by both locals and visitors.
Site inspection and preparation of conservation documentation for Rechner Cottage Conservation Association was supported by a grant.
A grant has provided for Nuriootpa Town Band to create place-based art on the outside of the Nuriootpa Town Band Hall with the intention of promoting the band, it’s heritage, and its role in the local community.
Funding was provided to the She Is group to support the 100 Barossa Artists initiative in curating the self-portraits and holding of the exhibition at the pop-up art studio in Nuriootpa.
