Background

French Medical Institute for Mothers and Children (FMIC) was founded in 2006 is a unique public-private partnership between the Governments of Afghanistan and France, a French NGO – La Chaine de L’Espoir and the Aga Khan Development Network through the Aga Khan University Hospital. FMIC embodies a sign of hope for the medical care in Afghanistan. The Institute has risen to the challenge of charting a course towards sustainable health solutions for Afghanistan. It is the first ISO certified hospital in Afghanistan, aiming to provide compassionate, accessible.

Job summary

The assignment will be based at FMIC in Kabul, Afghanistan. The objectives of this assignment are as follows.

  • Lead FMIC’s fundraising/ resource mobilization in support of its current and future initiatives.
  • Implement FMIC’s fundraising/ resource mobilization strategy for individual and corporate donors with support from management, Resource Development Committee of FMIC Board.
  • Spearhead the Communications functions and drive towards organizational visibility, public relations and reputation management.
  • Lead the marketing function of FMIC while ensuring corporate client relations and engagement.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate would be able to:

  • Explore fundraising opportunities and write grant applications to potential corporations
  • Build relationships with major donors or companies and make presentations
  • Manage information and record the profile and fundraising activity
  • Ensure that the fundraising targets for the year are met
  • Devise and organize fundraising events
  • A comprehensive resource mobilization strategy that includes an overview of the situation, analysis of past fundraising experience, explores future opportunities and strategies, details workflow processed and mechanisms for contribution management and outlines a time-bound action plan (with key responsible focal points) to systematically research and raise funds for key FMIC initiatives.
  • Update the RDC of the donor interests, priorities, funding windows and actions that should be taken to mobilize funds and develop / maintain relationships with donors.
  • Develop required fundraising materials / to secure funding / raise the profile of key FMIC outcomes.
  • Develop and carry out an action plan that outlines clear time lines for the action proposed.
  • Spearhead the Communications functions and drive towards organizational visibility, public relations and reputation management.
  • Designing and implementing comprehensive marketing strategies to create awareness of the company’s business activities
  • Supervising the department and providing guidance and feedback to other FMIC marketing and communication professional.

Expériences / Formation

Qualification and Requirements

MBA, MSc. in Developmental / Communication Studies, or MA in Mass Communication / Public Relations.

 Work experience

At least, 5-10 years’ experience in public, private or NGO-sector organizations with involvement in fundraising or donor-related activities.

Knowledge and Competencies.

  • A successful record of resource mobilization, working for an international development agency is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge and experience producing fundraising and donor communications materials.
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness and creativity in developing new story ideas and resource mobilization.
  • Superior communications skills, including internal and external communication, community relations, and government relations.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Excellent writing and communication skills in English is mandatory, working knowledge of Dari / Pashto / Urdu an added advantage, as well as French.
