The U.S. Mission to Pakistan is inviting applications for the Flood Resilience Program to build the capacity of 20 mid- to senior-level representatives from Pakistani non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and the Punjab provincial government to mitigate the effects of climate change, specifically severe flooding.

The project will consist of a multi-day series of short workshops with U.S. subject matter experts and include both female and male NGO and government respresentatives.

The project output will be a practical flood resilience and mitigation action plan to support provincial efforts in combatting flooding and its effects. Increasing the capacity of Pakistani NGOs and the Punjab provincial government to mitigate the effects of flooding will contribute the building community-level resilience to climate change and enhance the ability of NGOs and the government to bring out positive change in governmental policies to address this issue. The project can be online, hybrid, or in-person.

Objectives
To build the capacity of 20 representatives from Pakistani NGOs and the Punjab provincial government working in the environmental, climate change, or disaster management fields on mitigating the effects of flooding within twelve months.
For project participants to develop an action plan to improve community preparedness vis-à-vis flood resilience and mitigation of flooding effects within twelve months.
For the grantee, in collaboration with project participants, to produce a regular series of social media posts to highlight the need to implement measures to mitigate the effects of flooding, and, by extension, climate change
Goals
Strengthen the capacity of Pakistani NGOs and Punjab provincial government agencies to mitigate the negative effects of climate change, particularly flooding.
Increase awareness on the part of the Punjab public with regards to the critical nature of climate change, particularly flooding, and how to mitigate its effects, including climate-sensitive urban development, city planning, and flood management techniques through a regular series of social media posts on the project as it progresses

Project Audience(s)
The primary audience of the program will be 20 representatives working in the fields of environment, climate change, and disaster management from Pakistani NGOs and the Punjab provincial government. The project will be a mix of males and females aged 35-50 years old, holding a graduate degree in an environment or crisis management-related field, and having a minimum of ten years of professional experience.
The secondary audience will be communities across Punjab that will benefit from the creation and future implementation of the action plan which will help assess community preparedness for, deal with, and recover from floods.
Eligibility Criteria
The following non-profit entities are eligible to apply:

Non-governmental organizations
Civil society organizations
For-profit entities, even those that may fall into the categories, are not eligible to apply for this funding opportunity.
