Organizational SettingThe Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), together with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ), received funds from the European Union (EU) to implement the project PROMOVE Agribiz – Improving Rural Competitiveness in Nampula and Zambézia Provinces, Mozambique, with the overall objective of contributing to a sustainable, inclusive and broad-based economic growth and poverty reduction in the context of national food and nutrition security and climate change. The project will achieve the objectives through (i) improving the food and nutrition security and resilience of smallholders and climate-smart and nutrition-sensitive agriculture, and (ii) enhancing rural competitiveness by improved participation of smallholders in economic activities, economic diversification, improved access to rural services and improved rural investment.

Under the project FAO will lead several components, including, (i) the market oriented sustainable production systems development; (ii) the agricultural policy dialogue; (iii) the institutional and community capacity building; and (iv) market linkages by providing tailored innovative solutions that improve sustainable and resilient production systems. In the result area for nutrition, the project will ensure application of measures that contribute towards addressing micronutrients deficiencies and prevention of chronic malnutrition. The project focuses on enhancing the production and availability of diversified food, nutritional education and social behaviors change communication for the promotion of appropriate healthy and nutritional behaviors practices.
To this end, FAO is recruiting a software development specialist, to support the implementation and delivery of the PROMOVE Agribiz nutrition results in all districts according to the PROMOVE/Agribiz Project Document. This position is based in Maputo city, Mozambique with frequent travel to the target districts.
Reporting LinesUnder the overall supervision of the FAO Representative in Mozambique, and the direct supervision of the Chief Technical Advisor (CTA), the incumbent will be responsible for maintaining and supporting end-users in the beneficiary management information system and other systems as may be introduced from time to time by FAO Mozambique in its day to day operations.

Tasks and responsibilities
Specific responsibilities:Resolve bugs occurring within the server application (FMT), the Android application for supporting as reported by the users that utilize these applications on a case by case basis;
Provide remote and in-person technical support to Implementing Partners, Traders, Mobile Money Operators and Money Vendors when they encounter challenges while using the system during project implementation;Provide technical support to FAO Mozambique staff and partners as they utilize the system and associated applications;Configure mobile phones for data collection with KOBO before the commencement of implementations;Configure KOBO server forms with relevant data collection tools and project data;Extract collected data in relevant formats to present to relevant stakeholders for analysis and upload to FMT to facilitate aid disbursement;Conduct training for Implementing Partner data clerks that utilize FAO Mozambique Tools for beneficiary registrations when required;Conduct training for FAO Mozambique staff utilizing FAO Mozambique tools during project implementation;Prepare documents, presentations and videos to complement training and ease onboarding of new system users (both for Implementing Partners and for FAO Mozambique Staff);
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements   Advanced university degree/ University degree/ in software engineering, computer science, or related fields with a solid foundation in application development.
5 years of relevant experience in in building and managing scalable applicationsWorking knowledge of English or SpanishWorking knowledge of PortugueseNational of Mozambique.Experience working in an environment involving the provision of remote technical assistanceProfessional work experience in mobile VAS integrations and application development is an advantage. Previous experiences with the UN system will be an added advantages
