Organizational Setting
 The main aim of the FAO country offices, which are headed by an FAO Representative, is to assist governments to develop policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to help develop the agricultural, fisheries and forestry sectors, and to use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner.
The position is located in the FAO Representation in Kenya and the incumbent will be based in Samburu, Kenya
Reporting Lines
 The incumbent will work under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative in Kenya and direct supervision of the Natural Resource Management Officer and the GEF 5 Kirisia Project Manager, the Office Assistant with guidance from the Natural Resource Management Unit Operations Assistant will provide administrative support to the FAO office in Maralal, Samburu County.
Technical Focus
 The Office Assistant will perform a large variety of routine administrative transactions and office support functions contributing to the smooth and efficient running of the work unit.
Tasks and responsibilities
 Manage the FAO office and equipment.
Assist the Project Manager in organizing stakeholder meetings, i.e. invitations, production, distribution and filing of minutes and follow up of agreed actions
Facilitate procurement of services, processing of payments and keeping financial records of office expenditures
Enhance communication with partners in collaboration with FAOKE communications team with regards to coverage of important events, missions and visibility for the GEF project
Assist in monitoring and reporting of the GEF project performance
Perform other related duties assigned by FAO
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
 Minimum Requirements
 Diploma in Forestry, Community Development, Natural resource management, Botany and/or related fields
Two years of relevant experience in office support work
Working knowledge of English and Swahili
National of Kenya or resident in the country with a work permit.

Experience of working with UN agencies and/or development organizations at local level is an added advantage.

Experience in development work in remote areas is highly desirable
