Organizational Setting
 FAO Representation in Mozambique is responsible for developing, promoting, overseeing and implementing agreed strategies for addressing country food, agriculture and rural development priorities. It ensures a multidisciplinary approach to programmes, identifies priority areas of action for the Organization and, in collaboration with departments and divisions at sub-regional, regional and Headquarters level, develops, promotes and oversees FAO’s strategic response to national priorities.
The Country Office supports national policy dialogue on food security, agriculture and rural development issues, facilitates the emergence of partnerships, and supports capacity development and resource mobilization in the country.
FAO Representation in Mozambique is seeking to hire two National Communications Officers to integrate the communication team. The selected candidate will works in close collaboration with the programme team providing the required support to project implementation
 Reporting Lines
 The Communications Specialists will work under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative and under the direct supervision of the Assistant FAO Representative – Programme. The incumbent will work under technical guidance from the communications teams in the Sub-Regional Office (SFS), regional Office (RAF) and headquarters (HQ).

Tasks and responsibilities
To increase visibility of the projects and promote awareness of their activities and impact, he/she will develop and manage an effective system for producing key communication materials and identifying relevant events and increasing FAO participation in such events and provide assistance to the communication team of the FAO Representation in Mozambique when required.
The incumbent will have the following main accountabilities:
Develop the communication strategy for the FAO Representation in the country and grant effective implementation;
Develop specific communication strategies to project;
Form part of the shared coordination for the implementation of the communication strategy;
Work closely with the Programme team and members of the project teams to keep abreast of the project activities;
Facilitate information exchange between partners and identified stakeholders;
Ensure that relevant project communication materials (e.g. radio posts, radio dramas, videos, theatre pieces, flyers, articles, reports, guidelines, manuals and fact sheets) are developed and disseminated to donors, partners and project target groups through relevant media and network channels;
Develop and implement communication on lessons learned based on regular evaluation;
Provide support in the preparation of communication meetings;
Provide support to the project experts pre-drafting articles.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
 Minimum Requirements
 University degree in communication, social science, journalism, political science or a related field
Five years of relevant experience in communication, web publishing and/or social media networks
Working knowledge (speaking and writing skills) of English and Portuguese

Work experience in more than one location or area of work, preferably having worked in Mozambique;
Extent and relevance of experience in corporate communications, with prior experience on communication for development (food security, rural development, community work, social responsibility and similar areas)
Familiarity with the rural reality in Mozambique, particularly related to issues of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development and Natural Resources Management);
Technical skills in design, photography, video or other communication channels.
