Embassy of Canada to Argentina and Paraguay: 2018-2019 Call for Project Proposals for Canada Fund for Local Initiatives

Deadline: 1 July 2018

The Embassy of Canada in Argentina and Paraguay has launched a call for project proposals for its Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) 2018-2019.

The CFLI is a program that supports small projects proposed and implemented by local NGOs and other grassroots organizations, cooperatives and women’s groups. This enables Canada to respond to local needs by working at the community level.

Funding Information

  • The average contribution is expected to be in the range of CAD $10,000-$20,000 per project.
  • The call for proposals seeks projects that are of a maximum duration of about six (6) months, with activities to be completed by February 28, 2019

Priorities and Criteria

  • The submitted CFLI proposals must address identified needs of local communities in Argentina or Paraguay and fall within one or more of the 2018-2019 CFLI priorities for the Embassy listed below:
    • For projects in Argentina:
      • Gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls;
      • Inclusive governance, including diversity, democracy, human rights, including the rights of indigenous people and the LGBTI community, and the rule of law; and
      • Environment and climate action, including the responsible and sustainable development of natural resources.
    • For projects in Paraguay:
      • Gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls;
      • Inclusive governance, including diversity, democracy, human rights, including the rights of indigenous people and the LGBIT community, and the rule of law; and
      • Promoting peace and security.
  • The majority of CFLI funding is directed toward local civil society organizations (including non-governmental organizations) and other institutions working at the local level. Other entities can be eligible for a contribution, provided that they are working with local partners and on local projects that are consistent with the objectives of the CFLI.
