Community Northern Ireland seeks for Women’s Fund Individual (UK)

The Community Foundation Northern Ireland encourages for its The Women’s Fund Individual Bursaries that have been set up to fill a gap in funding opportunities for individual women who require a small amount of financial aid to support them towards fulfilling their potential.

Cash Grants for NGOs to improve access to justice around the world
Conservation Grants to research and generate local solutions to environmental problems
Foundation Grants of up to € 100,000 to increase people’s resilience to disasters
Innovative grants to address poverty issues by helping communities reduce violence, promote peace and recover from crises
Priority Areas

While not exclusive, the Fund welcomes applications for Bursaries that address the following:

Personal development & confidence building;
Overcoming barriers to employment or training;
Making the first steps towards re-entering the workplace.
In exceptional circumstances the panel may offer support for education fees, providing they are for short term courses only, and that there are further barriers for the applicant around accessing such a course.

Funding Information

Grant size: Up to £500.
Types of Activities

Examples of the types of activities that may be supported:

Basic training support materials – books for example;
Interview training;
Mentoring;
Travel costs to access relevant training (public transport for up to six months);
Childcare during employability training (up to six months);
Access course.
Eligibility Criteria

Who can apply?
Individual women aged 18 and over, living in Northern Ireland, who are striving to get into, or back into employment;
Applicants will preferably be affiliated to a constituted community/women’s group and have the support of that organization, however, if applicants are not, will still be eligible to apply.
The Foundation will not fund organizations or activities which promote causes that are contrary to the purposes. Causes and activities that are contrary to purposes include, but may not be limited to, those outlined in investment policy. The foundation will not therefore fund organizations or activities which determine are linked to the promotion of armaments, alcohol, human rights abuses, tobacco or pornography.
In addition the Fund will not support:
Salaries;
Formal education fees, for long term courses, eg: Degree, MSc, courses over one year in length;
Travel outside of Northern Ireland;
Holidays/residentials;
Vehicles or related costs;
Equipment;
Parties & shopping trips;
Promotion of religion or politics.
What one will need To apply?

Please note:

References will be sought and applicants may be required to demonstrate need for support.
Successful grant recipients will be required to keep a record of expenditure including receipts.
Grant recipients will be required to write a short report detailing how the grant helped them.
Decisions on grants made by the Committee of the Women’s Fund for Northern Ireland are final.
Any canvassing for grants may lead to disqualification.
