Chemonics International Inc., a leading international development firm that has been implementing USAID programs in Uganda for more than 20 years, seeks a Technical Director, Integrated Health Service Delivery (IHSD) for the anticipated five-year approximately $170 million USAID-funded Uganda Health Activity (UHA). This cooperative agreement aims to increase the survival and well-being of vulnerable populations and improve overall health system resilience in priority districts in Uganda through: (1) improved access to and use of quality maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH); family planning (FP)/reproductive health (RH); nutrition; and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) health services at community- and health facility-levels; (2) enhanced local ownership and leadership for sustainable health outcomes; and, (3) strengthened health systems at the regional-, district-, facility-, and community-levels. The Technical Director, IHSD will be responsible for technical oversight of integrated health service delivery and technical assistance activities for MNCH, FP/RH, nutrition, and WASH at facility- and community-levels. English fluency is required. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people globally.
Responsibilities include:Work with the chief of party and other technical leadership to ensure UHA meets stated integrated health service delivery goals, quality standards, and reporting requirementsCoordinate among USAID, donors, other health implementing partners, and numerous Government of Uganda institutions and representatives, particularly at the regional and district level for integrated health service delivery activities
Qualifications:Master’s degree or other advanced degree (PhD, MD) in a relevant field, such as medicine, public health, or social sciences; clinical qualification (MD, clinical officer, nurse, midwife, or other cadres) preferredAt least seven years of experience in managing and/or implementing integrated health service delivery or technical assistance programming addressing MNCH, FP/RH, nutrition, and WASH in a similar context, with at least three of those years working in Uganda as a senior advisor or staff memberExperience and expertise in evidence-based facility- or community-based MNCH, FP/RH, nutrition, and/or WASH service delivery approachesAbility to interact effectively and collaboratively with a broad range of public and private sector counterparts, donors, and other key stakeholdersExperience supervising technical staff in the implementation of integrated health programmingExcellent interpersonal, writing, and English language oral presentation skillsPrevious experience working on USG-funded health programming in Uganda, designing or implementing gender- or youth-sensitive health programming, and strengthening quality of care and/or QI for MNCH, FP, nutrition, or WASH all preferredApplication Instructions:
