CHAI’s global malaria program provides direct technical and operational support to countries around the globe to strengthen their malaria programs and reduce the burden of this preventable, treatable disease. We support governments to scale up effective interventions for prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and surveillance, with the goals of sustainably reducing the number of malaria-related illnesses and deaths worldwide in the short-term and accelerating progress towards malaria elimination in the long term.

 

New multi-country projects within CHAI’s malaria and NTD program will support Ministries of Health to better leverage existing data initiatives, strengthen data and information systems in country to improve the availability and use of high-quality information in program planning and decision-making, and achieve higher effective coverage of routine and campaign-based interventions. CHAI’s malaria and NTD program aims to promote government leadership for the sustainable use of information for decision making and encourage stakeholders to align behind a government led plan.

 

Overview of Role

 

CHAI is seeking a highly motivated and mission-driven Project Officer to contribute to the high-quality implementation of new multi-country projects within CHAI’s malaria and NTD portfolio, facilitating communications across all stakeholders and contributing to timely and high-quality deliverables. The Project Officer will support the Project Manager to implement and monitor of a set of projects related to strengthening disease surveillance and data analysis by governmental malaria and NTD programs and their partners.

 

The Project Officer will have deep personal commitment to producing results and be able to work independently. The Project Officer must be a highly motivated, entrepreneurial individual with excellent project management, problem-solving, organizational, relationship management and communication skills. They must exhibit a passion for results, a commitment to excellence and a willingness to provide support to different tasks. The position will report to the Project Manager, Africa Malaria and NTD Programs.

Expériences / Formation

  • Support the Project Manager to proactively monitor and manage project execution (planning, implementation, and dissemination) to ensure that expected deliverables and targets are achieved on time and within budget
  • Assist with problem-solving challenges in meeting project objectives, including budget constraints, and other operational challenges
  • Ensure project compliance with all administrative, financial, and contractual requirements
  • Organize communications across teams (including calls and Teams channels) and maintain knowledge management platforms
  • Take, organize and disseminate meeting minutes
  • Plan and prepare for workshops, trainings and conferences, inviting participants and maintaining attendance lists, sourcing venues, arranging accommodation and travel logistics
  • Compile agendas for all meetings, workshops, and training sessions
  • Regularly update partner database and contact information
  • Maintain and manage version control for team documents including workplans, scoping materials and internal and external reports
  • Draft documentation for sub-awards as needed and coordinate necessary reviews by headquarters teams
  • Draft project and financial donor reports
  • Support dissemination of findings both internally and externally through high-quality presentations, reports, and publications
  • Other responsibilities as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Business Administration or related field
  • Minimum of 4 years of professional work experience
  • Experience in planning, and project implementation
  • Ability to work independently without extensive structural or operational support
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with strong spoken and written English
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • High levels of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Ability to be effective, calm, and flexible in high-pressure situations
  • Experience living or working in high risk locations
  • Ability to adapt to new environments and challenges
  • Ability to travel up to 40-60% of the year

Advantages

  • Knowledge of malaria, neglected tropical diseases or other global infectious diseases; and understanding of disease surveillance with knowledge of global health issues
  • Experience working in management consulting, investment banking, or similar fast-paced, output-oriented environments
  • Experience living or working in Africa
  • French and/or Portuguese language proficiency

Salaire

We are offering our standard contract for 12 months of full-time work with the opportunity to renew. Salary and benefits will be discussed during the first interview.
