Carmignac Foundation Photojournalism Award 2018 (50,000 Euros)

Applications are invited for the Carmignac Photojournalism Award 2018. This edition of the Carmignac Photojournalism Award aims to support an investigative photography project that will highlight the upheavals to the Amazon rainforest and encourage reflection of the consequences of massive deforestation.

In 2009, Fondation Carmignac established the Carmignac Photojournalism Award. Directed by Emeric Glayse, with the aim of funding annually the production of an investigative photo reportage on human rights violations in the world. In each edition, photographers from all over the world are invited to respond to a chosen theme, for the creation of a long-form work of photo-reportage. The Fondation Carmignac chooses a region of the world where turbulences have had repercussions for the planet, or forgotten parts of the world, thereby underlining through this choice to highlight what is unique about the work of photography.

Award

  • The laureate receives an endowment of 50,000 Euros, enabling them to carry out an in-depth reportage on the ground, with the logistical support of Fondation Carmignac. The latter presents a travelling exhibition and the publication of a monograph, upon their return.

Eligibility

  • Open to photojournalists around the world;
  • The candidate is the only owner of all intellectual property rights of the photographs he/she submits;
  • The candidate guarantees that the photographs transmitted does not infringe any Intellectual property of any third party and does not violate any applicable law.

Submission Requirements

  •  A Project description with up to 1500 characters
  •  A Biography and CV
  •  A portfolio with up to 15 images
  •  A story (linked or not with the subject) up to 15 images
  •  Image size: min. 3000px on the long side, sRGB
