Call for Letter of Inquiry: Large Grants in Indonesia

The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) and Burung Indonesia, as regional implementation team for the hotspot, are accepting letters of inquiry (LOIs) from non-government organizations, community groups, Indigenous people’s organizations, women’s groups, private companies, and other civil society organizations (CSOs) in relation to the eligible activities and geographies.
The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) is a joint initiative of l’Agence Française de Développement, Conservation International, the European Union, the Global Environment Facility, the Government of Japan and the World Bank. Private U.S.-based philanthropic donors have contributed to the fund with a focus on Indonesian Wallacea. A fundamental goal is to ensure civil society is engaged in biodiversity conservation.
Funding Information
LOIs must have a budget between US$50,000 and US$100,000 to be eligible for consideration.
Projects are expected to start approximately six months from the release of this call for LOIs. CEPF projects are typically 18-24 months in duration, but all work must be complete by June 2024.
Eligible Activities
Applicants should address the following themes.
Build partnerships with the private sector (Fish Processing Units, Suppliers, Associations, etc.) and involve them in small-scale fisheries management practices and conservation areas.
Development and improvement of income sources for coastal communities through the sustainable small-scale fisheries practice.
Development of site-level policies and funding to support sustainable smallscale fisheries management (i.g. RPJMDes, RKPDes, Village Funds/ADD Budgets, Village Funds/DD, and other sources).
Strengthen community-based conservation actions supporting endemic and priority species, including reducing threats (e.g., poaching, trade, consumption) and improved site-level management.

Geographical Areas
CEPF focuses its work on conservation outcomes, seeking to protect species, sites and corridors. The core of this work is around Key Biodiversity Areas (KBAs), which are the refuges of globally threatened species and around which larger corridors are based.
