Pro Helvetia Johannesburg in partnership with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation has announced the 2019 Call for Applications for the ANT Mobility Fund.

 

For the current phase of programme (2018 – 2020) Ant Mobility Fundingsupport has been separated into two distinct and more focused streams. The first is directed at individual artists and arts practitioners and the second to bands, performing arts companies, collectives, festivals and development organisations.

Activities and Projects should involve mobility between two or more of the following countries: Angola, Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Seychelles, Tanzania (including Zanzibar), Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

Funding Categories

Ant Mobility Funding for Individual Artists/Arts Professionals

  • The primary focus of Ant Mobility (Individuals is to assist individual artists and arts professionals (curators, organisers, arts managers, etc) to be able to travel across national borders in the region for the purposes of:
    • research and project development,
    • collaboration across national borders,
    • professional exchanges,
    • and touring/presentation of work.
  • Successful applications will be supported for up to a maximum of ZAR 36 000/US$ 3000.
  • They normally only support the following expenditure items:
    • local and international travel within and between the aforementioned countries,
    • accommodation costs (up to a maximum period of one month),
    • visa fees where relevant,
    • reasonable travel insurance costs where relevant,
    • material/production costs not exceeding US$ 500,
    • administrative costs (not exceeding 5% of the budget).

Ant Mobility Funding for Organisations, Groups and Companies

  • The primary focus of Ant Project funding is to assist in the distribution of new and existing works to a broader Southern African audience and to enable transnational collaboration and sharing of knowledge and expertise.
  • Projects will be supported for up to a maximum of ZAR 60 000/US$ 5000 and applicants are expected to have or seek additional funding from other sources.
    • local and international travel within and between the aforementioned countries,
    • accommodation costs,
    • reasonable local living expenses/per diems,
    • visa fees where relevant,
    • reasonable travel insurance costs where relevant,
    • administrative costs (not exceeding 5% of the budget),
    • professional, facilitation or management fees (the amount requested from Pro Helvetia should not exceed US$ 1000/ZAR12 000 and they would normally assume complementary contributions from other parties in addition to their contribution).
