Gauteng, GautengReference Number: 488 1905 MHU Job Description:Our client is a leading multinational engineering company whom require a Service Centre Manager. The Service Centre Manager is responsible for the day-to-day production. Supervises, motivates and supports the staff daily, applying a team approach and maintaining open communication. The Service Centre Manager plans, schedules, strategizes, and oversees all production activities while maintaining profitability. The Service Centre Manager is responsible for the effective and efficient planning and scheduling of personnel and equipment. Reliability and maintenance of the Service Centre equipment is also part of the critical functions. This reports directly into the Head of Service Operations. Responsibilities:Carries the 16.2 appointment for the Service Centre w/shop operationsResponsible for the overall safe operations of the service centreResponsible for the environmental practices applied at the service centreResponsible for the health of employees, visitors and contractors performing any work within the confines of the service centreLead the safety committee (Service) and other required functions to ensure a continuous and compliant safety management effort is achieved with the support of the leadership team and the HSE ManagerManagement of maintenance cost related to all equipmentEffective maintenance practices are applied to ensure uptime and reliability of machines are maintainedConsult equipment manufacturers to ensure risk are mitigated and necessary major interventions are budgeted, planned and scheduled.Ensure critical parts are kept to prevent unnecessary delays during critical production times.Ensure equipment remains in a competitive state within modern manufacturing trends with regards to cost / hour, accuracy, capability, consumable consumption, set up time, HSE, etc.Management of cost related to contracts to enable target margins and efficiency throughout the manufacturing / refurbishment life cycle of a part or assemblyEstablish baseline costing for repetitive work and document all activities in the SC for costing, future continuous improvement and quality control purposes.Manage resources effectively to enable budgeted utilization hours are achievedEnsure jobs are completed within planned timeframes and costPlan capacity and machine schedules in advance and maintain a rolling forward looking schedule based on priority and sales targetsImplement learnings from previous delivered contracts to enable continuous improvementPlan and implement effective quality control measures to prevent rework, warranty return and wastageAccountable for developing and implement safe standard operating procedures for production operationsSet up baseline budgets annually and review cost centres on a monthly basisImplement cost control measures to manage expenditure and prevent over expenditureProvide input into CAPEX requirements in support of short and long-term business strategy.Supplier ManagementImplementation of strategic initiativesReporting as determined from time to time to ensure effective business analysis and sound decisions can be madeActive performance management and development of staffEnsure efficient collaboration and co-ordination between relevant departmentsResponsible for the engineering resources allocated within the service centre departmentLiaison with Site Solutions / Engineering Managers to ensure standards and practices are aligned and implementedManagement and control of all quality related practices within the Mining organizationImplementation and maintenance of an effective tracking, reporting and inspection regime Requirements: Qualification and SkillRelevant National Higher Diploma in Engineering or Degree in EngineeringCertificate in Production is advantageousDirect manufacturing knowledge and experience is critical and compulsory10 years’ work experience in heavy engineering>5 years Management and Supervisory experience including project management>5 years’ work experience in CNC programming, heavy machining and fabricationSAIW or similar qualification would be advantageousProgramming knowledge of various CNC machine controls including Siemens, or similar type software would be advantageousExtensive knowledge and experience in production and manufacturing processes and techniquesKnowledge of raw materials and heat treatment practicesKnowledge of quality systems and standardsKnowledge of process improvement techniques (six sigma, lean, etc.)Knowledge of machining techniques and processes/equipmentMining and Service product knowledge Benefits and Contractual information:Permanent position
