The Bureau of International Labor Affairs (ILAB), U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL, or the Department), announces the availability of funding to create and administer technical assistance project(s) in Malaysia to increase the mobilization of civil society and the private sector to address forced labor and/or child labor in one or more industries and/or supply chain(s) in Malaysia.

ILAB leads the U.S. Government’s (USG) efforts to improve working conditions and fight labor exploitation around the world. ILAB’s mission is to promote a fair global playing field for workers in the United States and around the world by enforcing trade commitments, strengthening labor standards, and combating international child labor, forced labor, and human trafficking.

This FOA solicits applications to implement a project with the objective of increasing the mobilization of civil society and the private sector to address forced labor and/or child labor in one or more industries and/or supply chain(s) in Malaysia.

Submit Inspiring Projects that drive Long-term Economic, Social, and Environmental Sustainability

Funding will be provided in the form of a cooperative agreement. Approximately $12,331,000 is expected to be available to fund approximately two award(s). Applicants may apply for a ceiling amount of up to $6,165,500 total costs.
The period of performance is a maximum of 4.5 years (54 months) from the effective date of the award.
Outcomes

The project should achieve the following outcomes:

Outcome 1: Improved capacity of private sector partner(s) to implement a social compliance system aimed at eliminating forced labor and/or child labor in one or more industries and/or supply chains producing goods in Malaysia;
Outcome 2: Improved capacity of civil society, which includes worker organizations, to address forced labor and/or child labor in one or more industries and/or supply chains producing goods in Malaysia; and
Outcome 3: Increased collaboration between civil society, the private sector, government, and other stakeholders to address forced labor and/or child labor in one or more industries and/or supply chains producing goods in Malaysia.
