Baobab Services is hiring a Software Engineer

Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Development Manager at Baobab Services whose clients are Baobab affiliates in Africa and China, will develop software solutions on a variety of projects involving both the core banking and other third party systems in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment. You will also be involved in providing support to end users, in terms of bug fixing in current instances and service requests delivery.

You will be actively participating in designing, developing, reviewing, testing and deploying micro services to drive our digital products. Collaborates with other Engineers, Creative/UX designers, Scrum Masters, Product Managers, Business Analysts and Architects.

As part of the above mandate amongst others you will be tasked with the following:
-Writing and implementing clean, efficient code based on specifications
-Deploying software tools, processes and metrics
-Work with team members to conduct a root cause analysis of issues, review new and existing code
-Identify ideas to improve system performance and impact availability
-Make good technical decisions that provide solutions to business challenges
-Compile timely, comprehensive and accurate documentation and or reports as requested
-Possess up-to-date knowledge of technological developments in the industry

Key skills and experience:
-Proficiency in Javascript (ES7+).
-Proficiency in SQL.
-2+ years of experience in product development using Node JS.
-Must have a strong and continuously growing proficiency in micro services development focused on Node.JS development.
-Hands on experience in cloud platforms (preferable AWS: both traditional EC2 and -EKS), microservices architecture, CI/CD solutions (including Docker), DevOps -principles, message queue systems, and background task management.
-Solid foundation and understanding of relational (SQL Server) and NoSQL (Mongo) database principles.
-Ability to work in an Agile /SCRUM environment.
-React.js or similar knowledge/experience is a plus
-Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git (Gitlab experience is a plus)
-Intermediate level of the English language, and a commitment to improve both verbal and comprehension skills
-Understanding accessibility and security compliance
-Basic understanding of front-end technologies, such as HTML5, and CSS3
-Implementing automated testing platforms and unit tests

-Must be fluent in French and good English
