The AB Charitable Trust is an independent grant-making organization, founded in 1990 by Yves and Anne Bonavero to champion human dignity and support marginalized and excluded groups. The Trust has no endowment and is funded annually by the Bonavero family.

Priorities
They support work that promotes human dignity and defends the human rights of marginalized and excluded people.
They fund small to medium sized charities who work in three priority areas:
Migrants and Refugees;
Criminal Justice and Penal Reform;
Human Rights particularly, access to justice.

Open programme grants are usually between £10,000 to £20,000 and awarded annually.
What they Fund?

Criminal Justice and Penal Reform
Deliver services to improve outcomes for individuals (and their families) who are in the criminal justice system (at any stage, from contact with police to courts and prison);
Support effective rehabilitation in the community;
Work to influence policy and to reform the criminal justice system;
Strengthen the sector and support charities delivering work in this area.
Human Rights particularly, access to justice
Provide specialist legal advice and representation;
Work to influence policy through e.g. strategic litigation or public law challenges;
Strengthens the sector and supports charities delivering work in this area.
Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for open programme, an applicant charity will:

Work in one of their priority areas;
Be registered as a UK charity, delivering work in the UK;
Have an annual income between £150k and £1.5m;
Have operated for at least a year and be able to provide a full year’s audited or independently examined accounts.
