WayOUT Grant: Empowering LGBTQ+ Youth in United States

WayOUT Grant: Empowering LGBTQ+ Youth in United States

Deadline: 14 June 2019

WayOUT is looking for leaders and organizations that are changing the lives of LGBTQ+ youth across the U.S. for its 2019 grant program.

WayOUT believes that LGBTQ+ youth should grow up feeling safe to be who they really are. They empower LGBTQ+ youth by supporting local organizations and entrepreneurs making a difference in their communities. Through fundraising and resource mobilization, wayOUT enables these entrepreneurs to launch programs and provide ongoing support for LGBTQ+ youth in their communities.

Funding Information

Grant requests may range from $5,000 to $75,000.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants may apply for either general or project-based funding.
  • Partner Organization must serve children and youth (0 to 24 years old).
    • Primary focus: Their program partners must serve a specific, marginalized LGBTQ+ population with at least 50 youth. Agencies who serve a broader age constituency may be eligible for a capacity building grant targeted toward youth-serving programs within the organization and will be asked to provide data on the percent of total programming directed to children and youth only.
    • Services: Preference is given to organizations whose primary mission is related to the safety and advocacy of LGBTQ+ youth within their communities. Successful grant applicants will be nonprofit organizations (or, in some cases, a program within an organization) that address issues such as suicide prevention, transgender support and services, homelessness, LGBTQ+ competent healthcare and HIV/AIDS services; mentorship / continuing education, self esteem building, promotion of healthy behaviors and emotional health supports, etc.
    • Geographic Area: Their partners must be based within the United States. Though they encourage applications from all across the country, preference will be given to organizations in states with laws that impact access to safety and wellbeing for LGBTQ+ youth, and resources are not readily accessible. Applicants will be asked to identify and demonstrate a gap in services in their area.

How to Apply

Application must be submitted either via online or email at the address given on the website.
