Job description
Construct, erect, install, and repair structures, fixtures, and furnishings made from various metal. Must have knowledge of the principles of International and Local Building codes. Responsible for creating and installing building parts made of metal. Installs and repairs heating and air conditioning ducts, roofing, stainless steel appliances, siding, and metal partitions by fabrication and welding. The incumbent receives direct supervision from the specified maintenance foreman or supervisor.
Job requirements
- Two years of Apprentice / Journeyman level experience in Welder/metal work is required.
- Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and sketches, Good knowledge of welding techniques, supplies and equipment.
- Must have intimate knowledge of the use of welding and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Completion of Secondary and 2 years of Trade School is required. Must be a qualified Apprentice / Journeyman Welder/Metal worker.
- English level II (Limited Knowledge) Written/Speaking/Reading is required. (This may be tested)
- Wolof level III (Good working knowledge) Written/Speaking/Reading is required.
- Ability to identify problems or dangers, report issues and provide solution.
- Communication and interpersonal skills to answer queries from end-users.
- Ability to work as part of a team, work under pressure and a tight schedule.
- A flexible approach to work shifts and answer emergency calls at all hours.
- A current driver’s license is required
