The Community Foundation Lorain County has announced the Women’s Fund to expanding chances and choices for Lorain County women and children.
The power of writing proposals is in your hands
The Women’s Fund is a permanent endowment that encourages and supports both non-traditional and mainstream endeavors that are developed by or particularly benefit women and children. The Women’s Fund grant program provides funding to non-profit organizations and informal groups of women or emerging grassroots organizations where 100% of the clients benefiting from the grant funding are women and children.

Initiate financial and funding equity for women and children
Award grant dollars for projects that may not receive monies from traditional sources of funding
Support social, educational, and artistic projects by, for, and delivered to women and children
Encourage the full participation of women and children in the community.

In 1991, a few Lorain County women were concerned by the lack of money spent on programs specifically designed to meet the needs of women even though women and girls were most likely to suffer from many of society’s ills (e.g., underemployment, lack of education, domestic abuse, sexual assault, single parenting issues). At the time, only 3.4% of national funding was directed toward programs for them.
These women were determined to create a better situation for women and girls in this area. They pooled their resources and established the Women’s Fund. The Women’s Fund is a permanent endowment that encourages and supports both non-traditional and mainstream endeavors that are developed by or particularly benefit women and children. In 2017, the Women’s Fund expanded its mission to include all children.
