2018 Heinrich Böll Foundation International Scholarships to Study in Germany

Applications for the Heinrich Böll Foundation Scholarships 2018 are now open. The scholarship department of the Heinrich Böll Foundation grants scholarships to undergraduates, graduates, and doctoral students from inside and outside Germany.
The Heinrich Böll Foundation grants scholarships to approximately 1,200 students of all subjects and nationalities per year, who are pursuing their degree at universities, universities of applied sciences (‘Fachhochschulen’), or universities of the arts (‘Kunst-/Musikhochschulen’).
They expect their scholarship recipients to have excellent academic records, to be socially and politically engaged, and to have an active interest in the basic values of the foundation: ecology and sustainability, democracy and human rights, self determination and justice.
Eligibility Criteria
FOR MASTERS
Students Domestic:
- Students from Germany in the first degree course; Application before beginning of studies until the 3rd semester possible; all subjects; all colleges;
- Students from Germany in the first degree course for the study scholarship program “Medienvielfalt, anders” (journalism or special studies);
Application before beginning of studies until the 3rd semester possible; all colleges
Students abroad:
- International students from other EU countries studying for a master’s degree or in the main study diploma / state examination in Germany; Application before beginning of studies or until the first semester in the master / main study possible; all subjects; all colleges; regional priorities are Eastern / Central Eastern Europe;
- International students outside the EU in the master’s program or in the main study diploma / state examination in Germany; Application before beginning of studies or until the first semester in the master / main study possible; all subjects; all colleges; regional priorities are Eastern / Central Eastern Europe, European neighbors; CIS, MENA region;
- Refugees who wish to commence or continue their studies in Germany or in the Master’s degree (or diploma or state examination degree program, regardless of the semester) in Germany; all subjects; all colleges
FOR PHD
Doctorate Domestic:
- Doctoral students from Germany for doctorate in Germany; all subjects
- Doctoral candidates from Germany for the research cluster “Transformation Research” ; all subjects
- Doctoral candidates from Germany for the research focus “History, Political Constitution and Orientation of the Greens”; Subjects as indicated in the call for tenders
Doctorate abroad:
- International doctoral candidates (EU, outside EU) for doctorate in Germany; all subjects; regional priorities regarding regions of origin are Eastern / Central Eastern Europe, European neighbors; CIS, MENA region
- International PhD students for the Research Cluster “Transformation Research” (all subjects)
- International doctoral candidates for the research focus “On the History, Political Constitution and Orientation of the Greens” (subjects as indicated in the announcement)
- Refugees who want to start or continue their doctorate in Germany
Dissertation topics related to the main areas of work of the Heinrich Böll Foundation have priority.
