The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) was founded in 1863 and is a humanitarian institution based in Geneva, Switzerland. The ICRC is a three-time Nobel Prize Laureate and is part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and is one of the most widely recognized organizations in the whole world.
The ICRC is an independent, neutral organization ensuring humanitarian protection and assistance for victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence. It takes action in response to emergencies and at the same time promotes respect for international humanitarian law and its implementation in national law.
ICRC FIELD DELEGATES
Minimum Requirements
- 25 years old minimum
- Bachelor degree level or equivalent
- At least two years of professional experience with international exposure in a humanitarian context
- Available to live in locations as assigned, without family members, for at least 24 months
- Fluent in Arabic or Russian
- Fluent in English
- Good grasp of either French or Spanish
Our operational & field constraints
- In line with the principle of neutrality, the ICRC does not assign delegates to countries of which they are nationals
- Candidates must be in good health and will have to do a medical check-up prior to departure in the field (ICRC medical standards)
- Driving licence for manual transmission vehicles, and ability to drive such vehicles independently in unfamiliar terrain
- Prepared to be deployed for field missions during the first half of 2017
