Location(s) of internship: Dakar, Senegal 

 

Will the Intern travel? Yes (Local) 

 

Internship project background and aims:  

 

The internship is part of the Health System Innovation and Delivery, (HSID), team to support the laboratories component of the Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA) project. The intern will support laboratories related activities and will work with participating laboratories involved in the project, to assist the team with timely implementation of the activities listed in our annual work plan.

    

Benefit to Intern:

 

The intern will participate in a dynamic and motivational working environment. At the end of the internship period, he / she will have gained experience in Laboratories data management, knowledge in project activities management and in establishing and maintaining work relationships with various partners.

 

Internship goals and learning objectives:   

 

  • Develop capacity with laboratories data collection and management.
  • Build project management skills.
  • Build capacity to interact with different partners.

  

Proposed activities:    

 

Support Laboratories related activities including:

  • Support Laboratories mapping data collection and management.
  • Provide support to Laboratories reporting Diseases of mandatory declaration and data.
  • Provide support in organization of workshops and training sessions.
  • Support drafting activities reports.

 

Learning outcomes (how the Intern’s performance will be evaluated):  

 

  • The intern will show accurate and timely processing with implementation of laboratories related activities.
  • The intern will improve skills in health related data collection and management.
  • The intern will participate in relationship development with a wide range of partners including our technical and financial partners, the Ministry of Health, the Laboratories Directorate, Labs staff etc.

Required Skills
 

  • Knowledge of medical laboratories services and activities, particularly Laboratory Technician experience, preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office package.
  • Strong knowledge of working English – verbal and written.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and organization.
  • Ability to prioritize even with multiple, competing priorities and deadlines.

 

 

Required Experience
 

  • Must be graduated from university or equivalent institution.
  • Must share sincere interest in Laboratories related activities.
  • We are seeking a collaborative, self-motivated, results-oriented individual who works well in an environment with rapidly shifting priorities.
