Internship project background and aims:
The intern supports a newly appointed SECONAF Forum facilitator (after a one-year vacancy of the facilitator position). The intern will support the facilitator’s efforts in re-energizing and communicating about the forum. The internship will also support the facilitator’s efforts to create space for young people within the forum for greater engagement of youth in discussion around their rights and needs. The intern will have an opportunity to exercise skills in communication and improve his/her knowledge of youth networks and reproductive health.
Internship goals and learning objectives:
- Support efforts to create and facilitate a youth sub-group within the SECONAF Forum
- Provide communications support through videos and short articles using existing website, Facebook and Twitter
Skills to be developed and/or expanded during internship:
- Development of communication materials including leveraging social media
- Facilitation support
- Youth engagement
Proposed activities:
- Support the coordination of youth groups at the community level
- Provide communication support through development of communication materials such as short videos and articles
- Pilot a youth-led micro project and share learnings as part of community development skill building
- Assist with efforts to expand youth group membership in the forum in Francophone Africa
Learning outcomes (how the Intern’s performance will be evaluated):
The intern will receive ongoing feedback and guidance from supervisors and coordinators.
The intern’s performance will be evaluated based on:
- Completion of tasks according to the determined timeline
- Coordination of youth groups
- Communication materials developed
- Coordination of the micro project pilot at the community level
Required skills and experience:
- At least 1 year of experience working with youth groups, on Reproductive Health and on Communication
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Past experience in facilitation
- Reproductive health supplies knowledge
- Knowledge of youth networks in Africa

Must have legal authorization to work in Senegal.
