PRESENTATION

Educo (member of ChildFund Alliance in Spain) is a global development NGO cooperating in 14 countries of Africa, Asia, Americas and Europe. We defend children’s rights and promote sustainable social change by improving the living conditions of vulnerable populations, especially children.

Our action is based on the Convention of the Rights of the Child. Out three institutional goals are: education, protection and governance. Educo has been working in Africa since 1998, both through direct action and through local partners. Our work in the region has focused on Mali, Burkina Faso, Benin and Senegal.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS JOB?

Reporting directly to the Global Communication Manager, the Regional Communication Manager will be responsible for elaborating and executing regional communication strategy in alignment with the global communication strategy and EDUCO’s visibility, advocacy and fundraising goals.

The selected candidate will have the mission to position EDUCO in the region as the leading organization promoting children’s rights and well-being, connecting and interacting with key audiences (at the internal & external level).

JOB OBJECTIVES

Strategy elaboration

· Work with global communication manager, countries communication managers, countries directors, regional evaluation manager, Resources Mobilization Coordinator, regional programs quality coordinator and regional HR coordinator, to develop and implement an effective regional communication strategy.

· Work with global communication manager, countries directors, countries evaluation manager, countries fundraising manager and countries programs quality manager, to develop and implement an effective communication strategy in each of the country under your responsibility.

· Ensure the development and implementation of an effective online communication strategy by the countries for EDUCO in the region in alignment with the global communication strategy

· Ensure the development of an effective communication and media strategy in the region

· Support EDUCO’s corporate objectives including the need to build brand, raise funds and leverage advocacy influence in alignment with ChildFund advocacy strategy

Media Management

· Implement a regional media strategy aligned to countries communication strategies, strategic plans and programs and linked to the global communication strategy to generate high media coverage in the region

· Build strong relationship with media at the regional and international levels

· Coordinate and manage risk and brand reputation in the region

· Analyze the regional and countries media landscape and detect media opportunities

· Media monitoring at both countries and regional level and reporting to global with strategic recommendations

Content creation

· Gather information and internal knowledge to create powerful and meaningful messages and disseminate these messages to the right audience at the right level of complexity through the most effective communication channel at the regional and country level under your scope in the region

· Create communication materials such as press releases, speeches and talking points, corporate manifesto, newsletters, video, photo, multimedia content and PowerPoint presentations, to be used at the country or at the regional level

· Create content related to EDUCO’s issues and campaigns

· Elaborate guidelines and templates for communication content and be responsible that it is being followed by the region and all countries of the region

· Ensure compliance with EDUCO policies and procedures, including reinforcing our approach to children’s rights in our communications

Capacity building

· Provide strategic guidelines to countries communication managers and countries directors

· Provide technical support and training to the countries communication managers, countries directors and other strategic staff persons. This support can be more strategic or technical depending of the country internal capacity.

External Communication

· Be the first point of contact for members on country specific communication, campaign, media and advocacy issues

· Realize stakeholders’ identifications and mapping to engagement strategically with the key stakeholder to build brand, raise funds and leverage advocacy influence

· Provide strategic advice and support to regional management team in relation to communication

· Provide support on communication tools (website, social media, media, etc.) at the country level to countries where the communication manager position is not filled yet

· Serve as spokesperson for EDUCO regional office with the media for identified topics.

REQUISITES

· Master degree in communications or political sciences

· Fluency in both french & English

· Minimum 5 years of working experience in same level in an international company or an international NGO

· Experience in both Corporate Communication and advocacy will be a strong advantage

· Availability to travel frequently within the Africa region (40% of time).

LOCATION

The position would be based in one of our country office, but preferably in Dakar.

DURATION OF CONTRACT

The initial duration is expected to be 12 months with possible extension.
